Earth and space science for everyone.
AstroNoir makes Earth and space science accessible and actionable across the Global South and the African diaspora.
Who gets to understand, study and benefit from our planet and our universe is a question of justice. Founded in 2020, AstroNoir is a network-first organisation with partners across Europe, the Americas and Africa.
Convene
Our community of scientists, educators, and changemakers across Europe, the Americas and Africa.
Learn

Build
Tools and dashboards built from open Earth and space data, helping organisations make better decisions.
OUR MISSION
To transform Earth and space science by centring the knowledge, leadership, and lived experience of the Global South and African diaspora. We connect people, knowledge, and resources across disciplines and generations to shape the science of our planet and universe and to ensure that this knowledge drives action, justice, and a more sustainable future.
Our commitment to inclusion and justice
We centre the Global South and the African diaspora
Voices, expertise and research from communities we serve come first.
Inclusion isn't an add-on to our work. It's the reason we exist. Science about our planet and our universe has too often been produced without the people and places it affects most, and access to it, from climate data to careers in space, has been unequally shared. We see closing that gap as matter of justice.
We're always learning. If there's something we could do better, we'd like to hear from you.
We speak plainly
Clear, jargon-free language, so science is useful beyond academia.
We keep it open
Free or low-cost events and resources, and tools built on open data that others can use and adapt.
We give credit
We credit the people whose knowledge and work shape what we do.

"I started AstroNoir because the science of our planet and universe should belong to everyone, especially the communities who have been left out for far too long."
