The AstroNoir team is delighted to announce that our first in-person event was a success!
We were able to organise an event that allowed about 15 people, with extremely diverse backgrounds and professions, to get together at the Intercontinental Hotel Geneve in Switzerland to network and chill.
AstroNoir started as a science communications website with the aim to make science accessible and inclusive for all. We have covered topics related to natural sciences (ie Earth and space sciences), engineering and technology, medical and health sciences, agricultural sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
Whilst we have prioritised science outreach in the past, this event allowed us to complete another goal of ours which was to help people throughout various sectors grow their connections; linking those from academia to the private sector and NGOs.
With a seat at the table available to everyone, all voices had the opportunity to be amplified and empowered.
Through various activities - such as speed networking - the participants got out of their comfort zones and expanded their connections. With a seat at the table available to everyone, all voices had the opportunity to be amplified and empowered. Furthermore, by diversifying their network our attendees increased their capability to become even more open-minded, adaptable, and self-reflective.
We are incredibly grateful for our guests on Thursday night and look forward to seeing them at our next Swiss night out. Furthermore, the AstroNoir team will be hosting these after-work drinks elsewhere in Europe - keep an eye out if your location comes up. We also have plenty of more events and science communications content yet to come - especially during Black History Month (UK) 2022 and the beginning of 2023.
